Recreation Facility Maintenance Interns

This work primarily consists of maintaining fire rings, grills, CXTs, signs, kiosks, and fences. This work will require basic knowledge of hand and power tools, pressure washers, and trucks. Some trail maintenance, motorized and non-motorized be also be done. Although there is a lot of driving from one recreation site to the next, while on site, the work may require a moderate to high level of physical exertion in very hot weather. During inclement weather, the interns will assist the recreation staff in organizing and cleaning our recreation supplies and tools in the shop and yard.

In addition to maintenance functions, interns will perform some general field monitoring of recreation activity and monitoring of Wilderness Study Areas. This work may require some occasional hiking and consists of taking pictures, writing notes, and filling out monitoring forms.

These positions are field-going positions, requiring the interns to spend most days exposed to varying weather and typically very hot summers. Interns must feel comfortable working independently or as a small team in very isolated areas..
