Recreation Administration Intern

This work primarily consists of processing permit paperwork, filing forms, drafting correspondence, and filling out spread sheets related to recreation permits. All this work will be performed under the direction and support of recreation staff. This work requires the intern to spend most days in the office, working closely with other BLM staff. There are also plenty of opportunities for field work. Activities that occur under the recreation permits need to be monitored in the field. It's reasonable to expect this position, although primarily an office position, would have the opportunity to be in the field at least 1-2 days every two weeks.

In addition to administrative functions, interns will perform some general field monitoring of recreation activity and monitoring of Wilderness Study Areas. This work may require some occasional hiking and consists of taking pictures, writing notes, and filling out monitoring forms.

It's likely that this intern would also have the opportunity to work with the two maintenance interns on occasion to complete field projects that may require more people to accomplish. A friendly disposition, good communication skills, organization skills, and knowledge of basic computer and word processing programs would be good to have.

Positions are located in Price, Utah, a community of approximately 10,000 in eastern Utah. Price is roughly 60 miles south of Provo, Utah. Although somewhat rural, Price offers more than basic necessities such as multiple shopping stores, grocery stores, churches, fuel stations, hotels, movie theaters, bowling alleys, a hospital, and is home to USU Eastern, an extended campus of USU.
