Child/Play Therapist

Job Description: Child/Play Therapist

Full-time (30+ hours/week) or Part-Time (below 30 hours/week)

Primary Location: WTCG area

Travel Requirement: minimal travel to local satellite offices & for training

Hours: Monday- Friday 08:00 to 17:00, with some variability as necessary

Reports to the Clinical Director of WTCG

Salary: commensurate with experience for 8 months, then 65% of collected fees – unless otherwise negotiated

 

WTCG is seeking a Masters or Doctoral Child/Play Therapist for generous pay and ample referrals in a collegial, warm, and supportive atmosphere in a highly regarded and expanding group practice in San Angelo, TX. Competitive start-up salary provided for up to 8 months. Upon conclusion of start-up period, therapist receives 65% of collected fees. We will pay for training and supervision necessary to become registered as a play therapist. Excellent opportunity for beginning therapist who wants to be trained and grow with our company. Position Overview: Child/Play therapists are hired by the clinical director and/or executive director to provide community based play therapy to children from age 4 to 12, as well as other mental health services: including the provision of individual, couples, family, group psychotherapy, as well as psycho-education within the scope of training and expertise of each individual. Therapists keep a regular schedule to facilitate the scheduling of appointments by administrative staff. In addition to maintaining a client caseload, the clinician will network with community agencies to provide education, skill development workshops, and consultation to referring community professionals and organizations. Clinical staff are required to maintain appropriate licensure in order to provide clinical services, and they must abide by their license’s code of ethics, comply with privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations (HIPAA and state guidelines), and make themselves aware of the rules, policies and procedures contained within the Policies and Procedures Manual. Clinical staff report to the clinical director and ultimately the executive director.

Qualifications:

1.     Texas licensure as: clinical psychologist (PhD or PsyD), LCSW, LPC-S or LPC, LMFT, LMSW currently in supervision with LCSW, or LPC Intern. Full licensure preferred;

2.     Two plus years of community based counseling/therapy experience;

3.     Proven interpersonal skills and effective as a member of a team;

4.     Strong public speaking and writing skills;

5.     Ability to maintain relationships with client base and community stakeholders;

6.     Knowledge about local resources and social services, specifically those serving children;

7.     Training in suicide prevention and crisis intervention;

8.     Demonstration of clinical competence as a play therapist by attaining and maintaining Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential within 2 years of hire;

9.     Will pursue credentialing to demonstrate clinical competence in other areas of clinical practice as necessary for client focus (ACT certification, Gottman certification, RPT, certified in EMDR, CPT, etc.);

10. Able to provide clinical practice in ways that respect the spiritual beliefs and practices of clients;

11. Demonstrated commitment to working with children in a therapeutic setting;

12. Knowledge and experience in identification and reporting of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children, the elderly, or persons with disability;

13. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook;

14. Proficient in the use of EHRs;

15. Must maintain professional licensure appropriate to provide clinical services;

16. Must maintain professional liability insurance;

17. Must pass comprehensive background check; and,

18. Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation, and be insurable.

19. Preferred: bilingual, Veteran, RPT

 

Major Responsibilities/Duties:

1.     Provide evidence based and ethical clinical services that adhere to accepted standards of practice to WTCG clients and the community; and

2.     Abide by licensure requirements, code of ethics, and scope of practice;

3.     Comply with applicable privacy and confidentiality laws and regulations, to include, but not limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and Privacy Standards (HIPAA) and the Texas Medical Privacy Act (Texas Health & Safety Code, Chapter 181);

4.     Will perform assessment for risk of harm to self and others and engage in appropriate safety planning or referral as necessary;

5.     Compassionately interact with clients of all socio-economic & educational levels;

6.     Empower clients appropriately within their natural support systems;

7.     Make referrals to other services and programs as appropriate;

8.     Complete clinical documentation within three working days;

9.     Willingness and availability to travel occasionally to local satellite locations;

10. Attend staff meetings and notify clinical director of necessary absence;

11. Record sessions as requested for training purposes and/or competency evaluation;

12. Attend training as requested;

13. Report abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities according to applicable laws, rules, and ethical requirements.
