Technical Project Manager

When was the last time you were planning a business trip and really tried to save your company money? If your company allowed you to stay in a fancy hotel, would you ever volunteer to stay at an Airbnb or at a friend's house? How about flying coach instead of business class? The vast majority of employees optimize for comfort and convenience, spending at the high end of their company policy limits, because, well, why not? So how can a company get its employees to care about expenses without implementing draconian policies, creating friction and frustrating employees? How can a company motivate its employees to save?

The answer is Rocketrip. We're a NYC-based startup that rewards business travelers for cost-sensitive behavior. It's a win-win: companies save, while employees cash in with real rewards.

The Role:

We’re looking for the right person to bridge the gap between our business and technical worlds. As our Technical Project Manager, you will work hand in hand with our Customer Success and Product teams to help strategize and architect a successful client implementation.

What you'll do:

  • Manage multiple implementations for clients while acting in a hybrid role of project manager and technical/ business consultant
  • Lead project design sessions and provide guidance and best practices on configuration options to meet client needs
  • Understand our application end to end and collaborate with Sales, Customer Success and Product Managers to identify and communicate technical services and solutions
  • Participate in late stage meetings with prospects to consult on product capability and educate on technical implementation (including configuration, integrations, and customizations)
  • Obtain client feedback and transition this into action items for our product and development teams
  • Ensure all configurations, integrations, and customizations are fully tested and ready for deployment
  • Own any problems you discover along with the solution to these problems
  • Be the go-to resource for answering any questions about your product and processes from other internal teams

You should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Information Technology, Engineering, Economics or related field)
  • 2-5 years of experience in either managing projects for product/engineering teams or consulting or technical account management experience related to business applications and system integrations.  Travel experience is a huge plus!
  • A keen interest in technology, doesn’t need to code but is familiar with web technologies and could write a SQL query in a pinch
  • An entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast- paced environment
  • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to negotiate. You’re comfortable working with a customer to help drive implementation requirements and negotiating on services when asked to build out a scope of work.
  • Experience in driving the basics of a good project management plan. From risk management to communication strategies.
  • The ability to work within an environment where employees need to be scrappy to get the information they need versus having tools readily available for them to tell a story.

We...

  • Are in high growth mode, and you will have the ability to make a huge impact
  • Offer great benefits, including medical, dental, and optical
  • Provide employees with a 401k plan
  • Believe it’s important to rejuvenate and offer a "take what you need" vacation policy
  • Have a dog friendly office
  • Provide access to gym membership discounts
  • Also provide access to a range of other discounts including Citi Bike and Zipcar
