Valencia College is seeking a Professor of Film Production Technology with expertise in cinematography and/or post-production, to join our dedicated, passionate faculty team as a full-time tenure-track appointment beginning fall 2018.

Valencia College’s Film Production Technology, programs new facilities opened on August 2017. The School of Arts and Entertainment building includes a sound stage, editing suites, a Dolby Atmos immersive sound mixing stage, and a screening theater with a 4K projector.

We offer an A.S. degree with an intensive curriculum that incorporates workshops and labs with real-world projects. Our unique program partners with professional film and television productions, offering use of our film package: cameras, grip and electric trucks, generator, and facilities. Our students form the production crew, first by attending workshops run by our faculty and staff, and then by working under the guidance of the industry professionals making the motion picture. We’ve produced forty-nine feature films, many of which have found limited theatrical release and distribution on television, DVD, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in film production technology or a closely related field is required; an MFA or terminal degree is preferred.
  •  The ideal candidate is a passionate storyteller with extensive experience in the film and television industry. The candidate should have substantial credits on films and/or television series.
  • The ideal candidate should be a well-rounded filmmaker with an ability to teach a variety of production classes, and should have significant experience with cinematography, RED and Arri cameras, and Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut editing software.
  • Experience with AVID, Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut.

Work Hours: Teaching assignments may include day, night, or weekend classes.

10-month, Tenure-Track

Ten-month, tenure-track professors are, in addition to teaching in discipline, responsible for curriculum development, selection of discipline resources, assists in the development and evaluation of faculty and participates in college governance activities. As a 10-month, tenure track faculty member, you will be on a continuing contract to teach 5 courses, maintain 10 office hours, and 10 college service hours that may include, but not limited to serving on committees and work teams, research and special projects.
